The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has signed power purchase agreements with various Central public sector undertakings ensuring additional availability of 800 to 900 MW of electricity for the State within the next five years.
In a press release here on Monday, KSEB said electricity received under these agreements would be at relatively low rates. The agreements include those with the Neyveli Lignite Corporation's 1,000-MW project at Neyveli and the 1,980-MW project at Nagapattinam and the National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) 4,000-MW project at Kudagi and 4,000-MW project in Visakhapatnam. These agreements were signed during the course of last week.
Earlier, the KSEB had also signed power purchase agreements with the NTPC's 1,000-MW project at Simhadri and with the 1,000-MW joint venture project between the NTPC and the Tamil Nadu government in Tuticorin, the press release added.
