IKK Menon passes away

Writer and former Secretary to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Ittiyanath Kunhikrishna Menon, I.K.K. Menon to his large circle of friends and readers, died at his daughter's residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, his relatives announced here. He was 93.

Menon was a recipient of the Kerala Sahithya Akademi award in 2003. He was born in Thrissur in December 1918 and had his early education in Thrissur and erstwhile Madras.

He went to Delhi in 1945 and joined government of India service. He retired as Secretary to the ECI in 1977.
