Kerala Karshaka Sanghom district committee has organised a dharna before the Collectorate here on Monday, demanding that title deeds be given to all farmers having possession certificates issued by the Government for the poromboke land in their possession as on January 1, 1977.

The Sanghom State joint-secretary, Omalloor Sankaran, inaugurated the dharna. Mr. Sankaran blamed the Revenue department for the survey proceedings undertaken by the Revenue department at a ‘‘snail’s pace’’.

He said Government should speed up the proceedings for issuing title deeds to all eligible farmers who have been occupying the revenue poromboke lands as well as those areas which have been identified as excess land without further delay.

Mr. Sankaran said a large number of farmers in the villages of Chittar, Seethathode, Perinad, Vechoochira and Naranammoozhy in Ranni taluk, Anicaud and Aruvappulam villages in Kozhencherry taluk and those in the Perumpetty village in Mallappally taluk have been eligible for title deeds for several decades now.

The Sanghom district president K.P.Chandrashekhara Kurup presided over the meeting. Sanghom office-bearers A.Padmakumar, V.K.Purushothaman Pillai, P.N.Raveendran and P.Shamsuddin also spoke. The Sanghom workers also staged a march in the town earlier in the day.
