Kerala Opposition leader Oommen Chandy on Monday slammed ruling CPI(M) led LDF government’s advertisement campaign on its achievements of four-year rule.

Addressing a meet-the-press-programme here, Mr. Chandy said instead of advertisement propaganda spending crores of rupees, government should explain to people what actually happened to the 13-point action plan for the state’s development proposed by former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

“The attack by CPI(M) cadres against BJP and IUML workers in Kannur district is a clear indication of the state of affairs of the law and order situation in the state,” Mr. Chandy said.

To a question on the merger of Kerala congress (J) led by former PWD Minister P. J. Joseph with Kerala Congress (M) in UDF, Mr. Chandy said political parties should take decision that would gain the people’s confidence.

He said he did not want to say anything more on the merger issue as the Congress stand was known to everybody.

Congress had expressed reservation over Joseph joining UDF through the merger as it had raised corruption charges against Joseph.

Mr. Chandy claimed that UDF under Congress leadership would win maximum seats in local bodies polls scheduled later this year and assembly polls due next year.
