The Town Police have registered a case against A.P. Abdullakutty, United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate in the Kannur Assembly constituency, for breaching the model election code of conduct.

The police said the case was registered against Mr. Abdullakutty and 100 other UDF workers for allegedly violating the code of conduct at the end of the election campaign here on April 11.

The police said Mr. Abdullakutty and his supporters who assembled at Stadium Corner in connection with a campaign rally to mark the conclusion of the public campaign used more vehicles than allowed and created traffic jam in the area.

The police also registered another case against four UDF workers for driving a car into the area allotted for the campaign rally of Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Ramachandran Kadannappally. Two of them had been arrested, the police said.
