CPI(M) panel to take up State party issues today

Charges relating to VS and his letter seeking Mani’s ouster will be discussed

January 08, 2017 12:03 am | Updated 12:03 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The CPI(M) Central committee would take up the charges and counter-charges relating to former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and his letter seeking M.M. Mani’s ouster from the LDF Cabinet on the concluding day of its three-day meet here on Sunday.

The party Polit Bureau, which met on Saturday, did not take up the issue as the meeting focussed on the discussions in the Central committee on the national political situation, electoral tactics in the five States going to the polls and the documents on the farm and tribal sectors presented before the Central committee.

The issues relating to Mr. Achuthanandan centre around his walkout from the party State meet at Alappuzha and what the State leadership sees as his repeated attempts to discomfit the leadership over various issues. The latest instance in point is his letter to the Polit Bureau seeking removal of Mr. Mani from the Cabinet.
