Says steps will be taken to solve problems plaguing cashew sector

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the government will come out with a scheme for protecting the small-scale industries of the State.

He said that steps were being taken to solve the problems of the cashew workers.

Mr. Vijayan said this while inaugurating a public reception to the 11 MLAs from the district here on Wednesday. Two of them, J. Mercykutty Amma and K. Raju are Ministers. The function was organised by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) district unit.

He said that only if people stood by the LDF would many of the problems they and the country faced would get solved.

He alleged that the past five years the United Democratic Front (UDF) government had been harming and betraying the people. Though the people routed the UDF in the Assembly elections, the UDF had not been demolished to the extent it should have been.

“That is because the UDF was helped by the RSS-BJP combine.”

Eight MLAs and two Ministers were present at the function. K.B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA of Pathanapuram, was not present.
