A four-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited the house of slain Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) worker Abdul Shukkoor at Ariyil here on Wednesday as part of the investigation into the murder of 21-year-old youth by alleged Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers.
The team of CBI officials met Athikka, the mother of the slain youth, in the afternoon and collected some basic information regarding the case, relatives said.
The probe into the murder case was handed over to the CBI by the High Court on a plea by Ms. Athikka.
CPI(M) district secretary P. Jayarajan is one of the accused in the case.
The CBI team reached the house at around 4.30 p.m. and talked to her for nearly one hour, the family sources said.
The team also talked to Shukkoor’s sister, they said. It was an informal meeting, they said adding that no formal statement was recorded.
The sources said that the CBI team inquired whether the family of the slain youth had been contacted by witnesses who were not named in the charge-sheet to provide any information.
The team also sought from the family the sequences of events before the murder on February 20, 2012.
