The first commercial flight will land at the proposed private international airport at Aranmula in December, 2014, and the KGS Aranmula Greenfield International Airport Limited has chalked out an action plan to complete the project in a time-bound manner, said P.T. Nandakumar, executive director of the company.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Mr Nandakumar said the company has opened its project office in Aranmula in September and the project would be completed with people’s participation.
Though the proposed private airport is a Rs 2,000-crore project, no family would be evicted in the name of it and all other propaganda in this regard were baseless, said Mr Nandakumar.
He said the company has obtained all necessary clearances required for the project from both the Central and State Governments. The previous Left Democratic Front Government as well as leaders of various LDF constituents had extended full support to the company and the airport project, he added.
Mr Nandakumar said outrightly denied the allegation that the Government clearances for the project were given with out conducting proper environment impact assessment and other studies. He said various departments have given clearances for the project after conducting periodic site inspection and studies, he said. Each and every clearance granted for the project by Government was strictly complying with the laws of the land.
Mr Nandakumar alleged that the allegations levelled by certain quarters against the company and the airport project were publicity-oriented.
