Mr. Prasad said the government had also sanctioned ₹78.34 crore for coastal protection in other parts of the district.

The breakwater, with a length of 950 metres, will be constructed between CP stones 921 and 926. The tendering process would begin soon.

A sum of ₹75 lakh has been allocated for the construction of a seawall between CP stones 922 and 929 on an emergency basis. The constructions will be carried out by the Kerala Irrigation Infrastructure Development Corporation and the Major Irrigation Department.
