Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State secretary K. Surendran said here on Monday that the cases related to solar projects, in which the Chief Minister’s Office figured, remained to be investigated.
At a press conference, he said that prominent among them was a complaint by businessman and estate owner M.K. Kuruvilla. He was cheated of more than a crore of rupees, allegedly by Binu Nair of the Scossa Educational Consultants, and Andrews and Deljith, who claimed to be first cousin and personal assistant respectively of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Though there was clear evidence in the case, including records of payments, the accused were not questioned. On the other hand, the complainant was arrested over a relatively minor case.
Mr. Surendran alleged that a member of the Chief Minister’s family had tried to settle the complaint of Sreedharan Nair against the prime accused in the solar scam.
The Chief Minister had now admitted that he had met Mr. Sreedharan Nair. He should clarify when the meeting took place and whether he had given any assurance to Mr. Nair.
The BJP leader said the Chief Minister’s son and State secretary of the Youth Congress Chandy Oommen was associated with a Philadelphia-based company, Starflake, which allegedly had connections with Team SolarStarflake was setting up solar power projects in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and claimed to have an office in Kottayam. However, the office did not exist.
He said the investigation into the solar scam would not take proper course unless the Ministry headed by Mr. Chandy stepped down. .
