Karti Chidambaram, son of former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday for recording his statement in connection with the INX Media case.

Officials said Mr. Karti Chidambaram was summoned to record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

He arrived at the Enforcement Directorate’s office in Jamnagar House in central Delhi at about 11 a.m.

The ED is investigating the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance given to INX Media for receiving foreign funds of ₹305 crore when Mr. Chidambaram was Finance Minister.

The ED registered a PMLA case in May 2017 to probe the issue.
