A person assaulted over a petty issue at Sakharayapatna in Kadur taluk succumbed late in the night on Saturday.
Yashpal, 28, working as a cashier in a wine shop, was allegedly assaulted by a group of six people. The accused entered his shop to purchase liquor. They picked up an argument with Yashpal over the delay in completing their transaction.
Following the argument, the accused parked one of their bikes in front of the shop, blocking the entry. As Yashpal insisted that the bike be removed, the accused assaulted him.
Yashpal was taken to a hospital in Chikkamagaluru and from there he was shifted to Hassan, where he succumbed.
Sakharayapatna police have registered a case. The six accused were arrested.
