Abhishek Dattawade, 21, an employee of a private company, was killed in Nippani on Sunday night.

His mother complained to the police that three persons who seemed to be his old acquaintances called him out of his house at night and began to chat. However, in a few minutes, they attacked him with rods and knives and ran away. The profusely bleeding young man died in a few minutes.

The Nippani police suspect that a rivalry led to the violent attack. They have registered a case against three persons including Mohammad Zafarulla, Ashraf Ali Nagarji and an unidentified person. One month ago, Dattawade got into a fight with the accused. That incident seems to have led to this, said a police officer.

Investigations are on.
