B.S. Yeddyurappa, Shivamogga MP and national vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said yoga should become part of the curriculum.

He was speaking after inaugurating Yoga Dasara, held as part of Shivamogga Dasara here on Sunday.

He said that practicing yoga from a young age would result in comprehensive development of the personality. It is possible to keep many diseases at bay by practicing yoga. Yoga practitioners of Shivaganga Yoga Kendra, led by C.V. Rudraradhya, presented a demonstration on the occasion. A walkathon and ‘mallakhamb’ performance were held to mark the occasion.

B.Y. Raghavendra, Shikaripur MLA, and members of the Shivamogga City Corporation C.H. Malathesh and N.J. Rajashekhar were present.
