Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday hit out at the BJP government headed by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, saying that it was not concerned about people’s problems, particularly that of farmers affected by drought.

‘Vidhana Soudha chalo’

At a city-level convention of the party at the Palace Grounds here, Mr. Yeddyurappa said the KJP would launch ‘Vidhana Soudha chalo’ agitation on December 26 against the “failure” of the BJP government.

Listing the welfare schemes launched during his tenure as Chief Minister, Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that implementation of the Bhagyalakshmi scheme had suffered.

Garbage issue

The authorities had not bothered to clear the garbage that had piled up in the city, he said, and added that government’s performance was poor on all fronts. The main intention of the KJP was to ensure welfare of people of all sections, he claimed.

MLC M.D. Laxinarayana claimed that over five lakh people had enrolled as members of the KJP in the last few days.

The former Union Minister V. Dhananjaya Kumar and the former Minister Mumtaz Ali Khan were among those present at the programme.
