Alleged wrong subject code provided by nodal officers has put the future of hundreds of ITI students in Kolar district in the lurch.
More than 800 students who have written first semester examination in February this year were declared failed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), leaving them and their parents shocked.
Students from nine ITI colleges from Kolar, Srinivaspur, Mulbagal, Bhatrahalli and other places appeared for the examination at the Hemadri ITI College examination centre here. During the examination, they mentioned the subject code provided by the nodal officers on OMR sheets.
It is now appears that all the students failed in the examination as the code was wrong. The computerised evaluation of the answer sheets showed the students had failed as the code was wrong, said Harish, president of Swami Vivekananda Vidyarthi Vedike.
The forum staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday.
“The nodal officers provided subject code of third semester instead of first semester. Though students have written correct answers, all of them were declared failed as the code was interchanged. Directorate staff is responsible for this confusion and fiasco,” Mr. Harish said.
The protesting students have now demanded revaluation of the answer sheets without additional fees and disciplinary action against the nodal officers responsible for the mess.
