Writing in diary not MLC’s: Congress

The Karnataka Congress on Monday claimed that forensic tests on the handwriting sample from a controversial diary, allegedly showing money sent from State leaders to the high command, was not that of its MLC, K. Govindaraj.

There has been a huge political storm over the diary, said to have been seized from the home of the MLC during I-T raids.

KPCC Working president Dinesh Gundu Rao on Monday said that samples from the diary allegedly belonging to Mr. Govindaraj had been sent to the former Tamil Nadu Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) director, P. Chandra Sekharan, by an advocate for analysis. The expert, he said, had concluded that the handwriting of Mr. Govindaraj and what was in the samples from the diary were different.

“We will release the report soon. The BJP is making false allegations,” said Mr. Rao. The BJP had stalled the Legislative Assembly procedure for two days over the controversy, demanding a debate on it on the floor of the House.
