Writers, educationists, and linguists have decided to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to withdraw the order on introducing English medium in government schools and merger of Kannada-medium schools with low enrolment rates.

Educationist G.S. Jayadev appealed to the Kannada Sahitya Parishat to direct its taluk units to take initiative in improving the condition of Kannada schools.

Presenting a detailed picture of the condition of government schools and citing a study, he said parents had lost confidence in these schools and this has to change. Prof. Jayadev said instead of reimbursing the money to private institutions under RTE, it was necessary to make use of the funds to improve the condition of government schools.
