Total voters: 18,93,576; men 9,39,752 and women 9,53,457

In Raichur Lok Sabha constituency reserved for Schedule Tribes, women outnumber male voters. Of the total 18, 93,576 voters, there are 9,39,752 male voters and 9,53,457 female voters. There are also 367 other voters.

Raichur Lok Sabha Constituency has eight Assembly segments — Yadgir, Shahapur and Surpur in Yadgir district and Raichur Rural, Raichur Urban, Manvi, Deodurg and Lingsugur in Raichur district.

Of the eight, four constituencies — Surpur, Raichur Rural, Manvi and Deodurg — are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, followed by three — Shahapur, Yadgir and Raichur Urban — reserved for general category and one — Lingsagur — constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes.

Briefing the media here on Monday, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer B. Sharat said that a total of 2,184 polling stations will be established. Of them, 319 will be in Shahapur followed by 265 in Shahapur, 267 in Yadgir, 275 in Raichur Rural, 239 in Raichur Urban, 276 in Manvi, 265 in Deodurg and 278 polling stations in Lingsugur.

To ensure fair and free elections and also the strict enforcement of the model code of conduct, 48 flying squads and 31 Static Surveillance Teams, among other election staff, would be deployed on duty.

The gazette notification for the election would be issued on March 28. The last date for filing of nomination papers is April 4. Scrutiny of nomination papers would be conducted on April 5. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 8. The date of election is April 23 and counting would be taken up on May 23. The election process will be concluded on May 27, 2019, he explained.
