Women police team launched in Hassan

Hassan district has launched a team of women police officers named after Onake Obavva with the objective of handling cases related to harassment of women and schoolchildren.

The force, headed by Additional SP B.N. Nandini, was formally inaugurated by Superintendent of Police A.N. Prakash Gowda in Hassan on Friday.

This team includes women officers and staff. They will deal with cases of cyber crimes targeting schoolchildren, college girls and abuse of social media. They will also conduct awareness programmes in schools and colleges and keep a vigil on harassment of women in public places, a release issued by the SP stated.
