Over 500 women from different organisations sat on dharna and shouted slogans against the government. They demanded that the the State government take the lead in seeking a Constitution amendment for reservation in Central and State legislative houses.

They also sought a women’s budget and women’s manifesto.

Mallamma Yalawar of Sabala NGO felt political representation was a pre-condition to women’s empowerment.

The protesters sought effective prohibition by ensuring complete ban on production, sale, possession, and consumption of liquor.
