A vegetable vendor who was engaged in door-to-door selling died of injuries inflicted by a few stray horses at Gayatripuram in the city on Tuesday.

The victim, Parvathamma, 55, a resident of Muneshwarnagar in Udayagiri, was selling vegetables when stray horses on the street suddenly attacked her.

Though locals chased the horses away and rescued the victim, she was in a state of shock, bleeding profusely and died before medical aid could be provided to her.

Meanwhile, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesh said they secured all the horses and transported them to the cattle shed and efforts are on to trace the owners who would be prosecuted.
