Withdraw KPSC nominations: BJP

January 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - RAICHUR:

Upholding Karnataka Governor Vajubai Vala’s move to send back the list of names recommended by the State government for members of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the government to withdraw all nominations and come up with a fresh list of people with a “clean background”.

Addressing a press conference at his party’s office here on Thursday, BJP State president and Lok Sabha member Pralhad Joshi criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for making the nominations “at will”, defying the Supreme Court directives.

“KPSC is established not for rehabilitating the unemployed in the Congress party, for providing employment to unemployed youth. The government should withdraw the list as the recommended individuals are tainted,” he said. Quoting a Supreme Court order of February 13, 2013, Mr. Joshi demanded that the government implement it in both letter and spirit by following the procedure laid down by the apex court for the appointment of public service commissions.

“Even the P.C. Hota Committee, constituted by the State government, has recommended setting up a search committee to select the members for KPSC. The government has made appointmentswithout following the procedure ,” he said.
