Will improve facilities in bus stands: Thammanna

Transport Minister D.C. Thammanna has said the State government will improve basic amenities in KSRTC bus stands and also take up initiatives to improve the revenue of transport corporations.

The Minister, on Tuesday, visited KSRTC bus stands and depots in Hassan during his first visit to the district after taking over the responsibility of the department.

During his visit to Channarayapatna, Mr. Thammanna said he had thought of introducing canteens in all bus stands on the lines of railway canteens. Each bus stand would be provided with a room where women could feed their babies. “We are also thinking of generating power by installing solar panels in bus stands,” he said.

He said there was no proposal to treat the employees of KSRTC as State government employees.

Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna took the Minister to bus stands and depots in Holenarsipur and Hassan. Senior officers of the department were with the Minister.
