After talks with BJP observers at Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's residence on Saturday morning, Deputy Chief Minister Francisco D'Souza said he would abide by party decision over the choice of a successor to Mr. Parrikar.

Mr. Parrikar is soon to be elevated to the Union Cabinet. Earlier, raising the issue of his seniority and support within legislative Party, Mr. D'souza had reportedly said that he would join the new government only as the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, Advocate General of Goa Atmaram Nadkarni resigned on Saturday morning. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is expected to resign shortly. The BJP legislature wing is scheduled to meet on Saturday to discuss the Chief Minister’s post. Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, backed by a faction of the local RSS, was emerging as a strong contender for the post.
