A wild fire broke out near Gendekatte forest park, near Hassan, on Saturday. However, fire tenders doused it in two hours and avoided extensive damage to flora and fauna.
The Forest Department officials suspected it to be an act of miscreants.
Ganesh S. Bhat, Deputy Conservator of Forests, told The Hindu that the fire broke out around 3.30 p.m. and it was put off within two hours. “None of the trees was burnt. As the animals were all in an enclave far away from the spot, no animal was hurt,” he said. Suspecting it to be an act of miscreants, Mr. Bhat said the officials had been instructed to file a complaint with the police.
