Principal of Government College for Women handing over fund to Ashwini’s mother at the hospital.

The students and teaching fraternity of Government College for Women here have displayed humanitarian solidarity with Ashwini N., one of the students of the college, who has been under treatment for more than a year for spinal injury.

Ashwini was injured in an accident in November 2013 and is getting treatment at R.L. Jalappa Hospital at Tamaka on the outskirts of the town since then.

Realising the poor economic condition of Ashwini parents, the students and lecturers of the college collected Rs. 29,600. The Red Cross unit of the college also donated Rs. 5,000 towards the fund and the college principal Anjanappa handed over the amount to Ashwini’s mother Muniyamma.

The College Development and Maintenance Committee president and student representatives were present.

Students of a private college also came forward to lend helping hand to the poor student’s medical expenses.

The students, lecturers and management of Smt. Danamma Channabasavaiah College of Arts, Commerce, Science and Management Studies have donated Rs. 16,000 and prayed for the speedy recovery of the student.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had recently sanctioned Rs. one lakh from CM’s Relief Fund for the treatment of Ashwini following a report published in The Hindu on December 14, 2014.
