We will take on government on irrigation projects: BSY

B.S. Yeddyurappa, State BJP president, has said that BJP legislators will question the government in the Legislative session for spending only ₹36,000 crore out of ₹65,000 crore earmarked for irrigation projects in last four years.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil was trying to get free publicity and mislead people by publishing advertisements about irrigation projects. He added that following the model of Uttar Pradesh, farmers’ loans should be waived in Karnataka too.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the 24x7 water supply project for Gadag was incomplete, and works under way were substandard. BJP leaders who questioned this were threatened by the RDPR and by H.K. Patil, Minister in-charge of Gadag district, he alleged.

About his visit to Dalit houses, he said that he was visiting not just to eat with the Dalits but to understand the problems they were facing. He said he will travel across the State this month, and will sensitise people about the maladministration of the Congress government.
