VTU to start undergraduate programme in railway engineering

Visvesvaraya Technological University will start an undergraduate programme in railway engineering from 2015-16.

H. Maheshappa, Vice-Chancellor, made an announcement at the varsity’s annual convocation here on Saturday.

Earlier, Governor and Chancellor of the university Vajubhai Vala conferred honorary Doctor of Science degrees on Vasudev K. Aatre, defence scientist, and P. Shyama Raju, Chancellor of Reva University, Bengaluru. The governor also distributed gold medals to rank holders and conferred undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. degrees to successful candidates.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu delivered the convocation address, while Minister for Higher Education and Tourism R.V. Deshpande was conspicuous by his absence.
