In the run-up to Dasara, which will be celebrated from October 10 to 19, a vintage car rally will be organised. The rally, which will bring in classic cars from around the world, is scheduled for September 30.

It is returning as a part of Dasara after 13 years, and will also see the presence of the former maharajas and members of the erstwhile royal families of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Dungarpur, among others.

Classic car collector Ravi Prakash told mediapersons recently that there would be cars restored to international standards at the rally. In all, 50 cars of yesteryears from England, Sri Lanka and India will be part of the rally, which will be flagged off from the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru at 8 a.m. on September 30.

It will reach Mysuru the same afternoon, after which the vehicles will go around the city, taking the established heritage walk circuit to cover important monuments. The convoy will also serve to showcase the same to the people.

In the evening, all 50 cars will assemble in front of the Mysuru palace and will be stationed there for public viewing. A drive up Chamundi Hill on October 1 will be followed by an evening drive to Brindavan Gardens at the Krishnaraja Sagar. The cars will leave for Bengaluru on Tuesday.
