Vijayapura’s performance marginally improves

The SSLC results announced on Tuesday has brought Vijayapura district to 31st position in the State, which is one step above last year’s position of 32. Though the district has done marginally better in ranking, however in terms of percentage, it has dipped. This year, the district has secured a pass percentage of 75.20, while last year the district had achieved 78.70 per cent result.

Of 28,082 students who appeared for the exam, 21,257 have cleared the exam. Of the 15,728 boys who appeared for exam, 11,282 have passed in the exam and 9,825 of 12,354 girls have cleared the exam. In terms of percentage, 72.32 per cent boys have passed in the exam, compared to 79 per cent girls who have cleared in the exam. A total of 46 schools in the district have secured 100 per cent result — three government-aided, 17 government and 26 private unaided schools.

In Bagalkot, a total of 25,500 students had appeared in the exam, while 19,625 have cleared the papers. The district has secured 77.20 per cent result. In terms of position, the district has secured 30th position, compared to 10th position last year, which is a significant dip.

However, the officials believe that it was due to installation of CCTV cameras in 72 of 94 exams centres, which has curbed malpractice and copying in the exams. The officials said that they have focused more on quality than quantity.
