Vijayadashami celebrated with gaiety

Vijayadashami was celebrated with traditional gaiety here.

People of all ages, many dressed in traditional attire, were seen visiting temples to offer ‘shami’ leaves to the god and then exchanging it with their friends.

Highlight

The highlight of the celebrations was the burning of an effigy of demon king Ravana, symbolising the victory over evil.

This event, organised at the Venkateshwara Temple in Rameshwari Nagar on Hosapete Road, was witnessed by hundreds of people.

Later, there was rendering of ‘bhajans’ and distribution of ‘prasada’.

Procession

In other parts of the city, youths took out procession of Goddess Durga as part of the festivities.
