Vigilance Awareness Week was inaugurated at the sub-regional office of Metal and Mineral Trading Corporation, a Central government undertaking here, on the theme ‘Preventive Vigilance as a Tool of Good Governance’.
T. Rajendran, senior manager (in-charge), who administered the oath, was of the view that greediness and selfishness were the main reasons for corruption, which adversely affected the country’s economic development. Underlining the need for all to work sincerely and honestly for the country to develop and become prosperous, he said that preventive vigilance was a good tool to reduce corruption.
Transparent and fool-proof systems and procedures were to be put in place.
This would ensure appropriate accountability at every level of hierarchy in public administration, he said.
