Victorious GP poll candidate flees village

June 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Tumakuru:

A newly-elected member of ward No. 3 of Oorukere gram panchayat left the village along with his supporters out of fear of being attacked by women.

Rajkumar won the election from ward No. 3 of Oorukere gram panchayat defeating his cousin Yadukumar.

Yadukumar’s bid was supported by Umesh whose family was in power in the Oorukere gram panchayat for the past 20 years.

Yadukumar has alleged that Rajkumar and his supporters had physically assaulted the women who had supported him. One of them, Chandrakala, was admitted to a hospital after allegedly being physically assaulted by the supporters of Rajkumar, he claimed.

Rajkumar has alleged that he has been threatened that women would beat him with slippers and brooms and then they would tear their clothes and register a false case of rape against him and his supporters.

Hence, they left the village.
