Vasumathi murder case: Suspect in Bengaluru for narco test

June 23, 2015 02:46 pm | Updated 02:46 pm IST - MYSURU

The suspect in the mysterious murder of 48-year-old housewife Vasumathi has been taken to a private laboratory in Bengaluru for a narco-analysis test.

Disclosing this to reporters in Mysuru on Tuesday, City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda said the narco-analysis is expected to be carried out on Tuesday.

Mr. Dayananda, however, refused to share the identity of the suspect, who was giving the police contradictory statements during the interrogation. Mysuru police had already obtained permission from the court to carry out a lie detector test.

Ms. Vasumathi, wife of Dr. J.A. Mohan Kumar, a resident of Vivekananda Road in Yadavgiri, was found murdered with her throat slit and stab wounds in the abdomen in her house in February.

Police sources said a narco-analysis will be carried out at the private lab situated on M.G. Road in Bengaluru after the suspect undergoes a routine medical check up at Bowring Hospital.

The police will submit a list of questions to the experts at the laboratory, who will in turn pose the questions to the suspect. The answers given by the suspect during the narco-analysis will be compared with the replies he had given during the interrogation earlier.
