Vanamahotsava held

June 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Bidar:

Government departments organised Vanamahotsava in Sindhol tanda in Bidar taluk on Saturday.

Trees that increase green cover, retain moisture for long and add to the soil health by creating bio-mass were planted on land that was not fit for agriculture.

Officials of Agriculture and Horticulture departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and zilla panchayat planted saplings. They told farmers to take up community afforestation to improve ground water-level and counter climate change. Similar activities would be held across the district, Anasuya Hugar, Assistant Director, Agriculture, said.
