Valmiki corporation to set up offices in all districts

Karnataka State Maharishi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation chairman S.C. Basavaraj on Friday said that the corporation proposed to establish full-fledged offices in all the districts and create more posts.

Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Basavaraj said the corporation had offices in 16 districts and around 176 staff were appointed on deputation.

He said Rs.120 crore had been allocated to the corporation in the recent budget to extend benefits under self-employment, entrepreneurship development, micro-finance and Ganga Kalyan schemes for 42.48 lakh people belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.

Mr. Basavaraj said two acres of dry land or one acre of cultivable land would be given to landless woman beneficiaries under the land purchase scheme. The corporation would take steps to drill borewells under the Ganga Kalyan Scheme for those, who bought dry land under the land purchase scheme.
