Urdu writers return awards

Close on the heels of popular Urdu poet Munawar Rana returning his Sahitya Akademi award, two Urdu writers from Bidar have returned their Karnataka Urdu Academy awards.

Senior poet Ameeroddin Amir, and young story writer Muhamad Yousuf Raheem Bidri, returned their awards to officials of the department of minority welfare in Bidar on Monday.

Both of them are associated with the forum for democracy and communal amity.

They were joined by writers like Shambuling Waldoddi, M. S Manohar, members of the Yaran-e-Adab and other organizations.

We returned the plaque, certificate and the prize money, they said.
