The elections to the various standing committees of the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation were held here on Monday with the candidates of the three political parties ruling BJP, Congress and JD(S) getting elected unopposed.
Regional Commissioner of Belagavi Manjunath Naik conducted the election process which went on for over three hours.
With last minute negotiations in filing the nomination papers and withdrawals subsequently, all the candidates who filed their nomination papers were declared elected as unopposed.
As per the understanding, it is now clear that the BJP councillors Narayan Jartarghar, Mahesh Burli, Sanjay Kapatkar and former Mayor Viranna Savadi will head the four standing committees.
In a subsequent development, former Mayor Poorna Patil was elected floor leader of the ruling party in the council while senior councillor Fehamida Killedar was elected as leader of JD(S) in the council.
