Two-day mega job fair in Muddebihal

In order to provide employment opportunities to unemployed persons, the district administration is holding a mega job fair at V.V. Sangh’s Sri Khasgateshwar Education Society, Talikot town, in Muddebihal taluk on November 7 and 8.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep said that while around 2,000 companies had been contacted for participation, they expected at least 100 companies to turn up for the event.

“We are expecting at least 5,000 people to get a job based on their skills and qualification during the fair,” Mr. Randeep said. He said that popular companies in the field of insurance, banking, automobile, service sector, health and hospitality, garments, IT, transport and BPO would be participating in the fair.

Companies such as Tata Marcopolo, Infosys, L&T, Coffee Day, and Balaji Sugars have already given consent to participate in the fair, he said.

In order to provide better transport facility to the aspirants, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation had been asked to ply more buses to the venue from all parts of the district for the two days, Mr. Randeep said.

The government had granted Rs. 15 lakh for the event, while another Rs. 20 lakh would be arranged from local sources, he said.

“During the event, which will be inaugurated by Minister for Major Industries and Tourism R.V. Deshpande, food will be served free for all the aspirants by various sponsors,” he said.

He urged the youths to take advantage of the fair to get job opportunities in various sectors.

To a question, he said efforts would be made to arrange special classes for improving communication skills of job aspirants to increase the possibilities of landing jobs in the private sector through the Human Resource Management Centre coming under the Ministry of Labour and Employment of the State government.
