Residents of Allapur village have allegedly auctioned two gram panchayat seats in the village to the highest bidder and are using the money to develop the Mallikarjun Swami Temple in the village.

According to reports the village had allegedly finalised the winners of the bid and kept their names secret fearing action by the election authorities and the police.

Reports said that one seat, reserved for the general category, was allegedly auctioned for Rs. 2.75 lakh and another, reserved for the Scheduled Castes, was allegedly auctioned for Rs 1.5 lakh.

The successful bidders will reportedly be elected unanimously to the gram panchayat.
