Two girls from Andhra Pradesh were washed away in a high-level canal of the Tungabhadra reservoir near Bandihatti locality on Wednesday. According to the police, Raviteja (19) and Kamalteja (17), residents of Hosakota in Kanekal of Andhra Pradesh, had come to their sister’s house here. They slipped and fell into the canal while collecting water. Attempts by women, who were washing clothes, to rescue them went in vain. The police tried to trace the bodies but their efforts failed to yield any result.
