Two get five years RI over attempt to kidnap minor girl

Two brothers who tried to kidnap a minor girl were sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court here on Friday.

Shivalinga Yerabage, 22, and Siddalinga Yerabage, 26, were found guilty by the Principal District and Sessions and POCSO-Designated Judge Hanchate Sanjiv Kumar. He also slapped a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the accused.

The offence occurred in a village in Bhalki taluk two years ago. Special public prosecutor Vidyadhar argued the case for the State.

Three years

H.A. Satvik, Additional Judge of JMFC court in Shahapur, Yadgir, on Thursday sentenced Ravi Rathod of Biranakal tanda in Shahapur taluk to a three-year imprisonment and Rs. 10,000 fine, for assaulting Govindappa of Wadagera village on November 11, 2012.

The judge also directed that Rs. 9,000 from the fine amount be paid to the complainant as compensation.

Another accused in the case, Budeppa, has been acquitted because allegations against him were disproved. Public Prosecutor S.H. Hakimsab argued the case for the State.
