Two children, who had gone to a pond with their mother to wash clothes, drowned after they lost their balance and fell into the water on Monday afternoon in Yaduvanahalli near Attibele. They were 5 and 6 years old.

According to the police, the children were residents of Yaduvanahalli. The children were helping their mother hang clothes at the bund wall of the pond when they fell into the water unnoticed.

“Their mother and grandmother brought the children to a nearby hospital but they could not be saved. We were informed by the hospital authorities,” a police officer said. The pond, which usually contains very less water, was full because of the recent rain in the area. The Attibele police have registered a case.
