The district administration and various associations celebrated the 122nd birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar here on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan and Superintendent of Police Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, along with other officials, garlanded a statue of Dr. Ambedkar at the Cauvery Park here.
Hundreds of people participated in the birth anniversary celebrations.
Meanwhile, residents of Shankar Nagar here celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by planting saplings. City Municipal Council member Somashekar Keregodu was present.
Along with A.M. Srinivas, MLA, residents of Tamil Colony here celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti by offering floral tributes to the statue earlier garlanded by the Deputy Commissioner.
Among those present were former president of the panchayat M.T. Suresh Kanti and Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader K.S. Puttannaiah.
