Transition of smart cities

The International Summit on Heritage Cities here this weekend will look into transition of smart cities. “Our heritage cities, in an attempt to convert into smart cities, are systematically eroding the heritage legacy. The past is important and attempts should not be made to erase the bequest,” according to the University School of Design, Mysuru.

Cities are places where a lot of energy is consumed because urbanisation is closely linked to high population densities and concentration of economic activities and production (energy demand) and consumption.

Cities are responsible for the use of a lot of energy resources and so they increasingly challenge the environment and the quality of life, a release said here.
