The number of candidates who have applied for medical and dental seats from Karnataka is over 1.8 times the number of candidates who are vying for these seats from other States.
A total of 56,514 candidates have got their documents verified and are eligible to take part in the counselling process based on theri NEET ranking. They include 36,518 Karnataka candidates and 19,996 non-Karnataka students. These candidates are vying for 6,615 medical seats and 2,740 dental seats. Although the demand, on an average, appears to be six times the number of seats, the chances of getting a seat will vary based on the type of seat as well as whether a students is from Karnataka or not. The fight for private medical and dental college seats is also likely to be very intense as more than two-thirds of the seats are reserved for students from Karnataka.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority has revised the calendar of events for the allotment of dental and medical seats. A press release issued by the KEA on Friday states that students would get an additional day to enter options, and the last date for the process is now July 23. The first round of seat allotment will be done on July 26.
