After a gap of four years, the historic district is ready to host the Navaraspur Utsav as the district administration has finally announced the dates.

The event will be held for three days from February 27, as the district administration has found that the weather will be conducive for the cultural event.

The decision to hold the event was taken during the preparatory meeting held on Tuesday which was chaired by the district in-charge Minister M.B. Patil and others. Speaking to The Hindu , D. Randeep, Deputy Commissioner, admitted that they have limited time to hold the event. However, he assured that the event would not lose any grandeur.

“Since we have limited time, the preparation should be done on war footing. I have called for the first preparatory meeting of all the district-level officials on Friday to prepare plans,” he said.

Mr. Randeep said that the district administration had earmarked around Rs. 1.5 crore to organise the event, thus money is not the hurdle.

With regard to inviting national-level artistes as getting their dates is difficult, the officials said he would be calling up his counterparts in other district such as Ballari.

“They would give me contact number of the artists, we will try to contact them and take their dates, else we will also try to contact other national-level, ” he said.

To a question, he said that the event would be held in new places like the Summer Palace at Kumatagi in the taluk.

“If one of the events is held in the new place, it becomes a popular visiting place for tourists, ” Mr. Randeep said.
