Three journalists picked up in Kalaburagi

December 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 01:46 pm IST - Kalaburagi:

In a joint operation, a six-member police team from Belagavi and Kalaburagi police picked up three journalists, including the editor and a photographer of a local Urdu daily, here on Thursday. This followed the arrest of Mohammad Hussein Ali Qureshi at Sambra airport in Belagavi on sedition charges on Tuesday.

The police picked up editor of the Urdu daily Ejaz Bihari, photographer Javed, and Akbar, also working with the newspaper, and whisked them away to an unknown place in the district for questioning. They were picked up based on the information provided by Qureshi.

Senior police officials were tight-lipped about the picking up of the three and their whereabouts.

However, one thing which has been “proved beyond doubt” is that the three are not linked to the IS.

The editor of the Urdu daily is from Bihar, and while pursuing his engineering course had fell in love with a local girl, married her and settled in Kalaburagi.
